GMB Rumoured to Switch eSports Teams to Team Vitality
The eSports world is awash with rumours right now and the latest focuses on Lee “GMB” Chang-seok. This player is rumoured to be not only swapping roles but also swapping eSports teams. This move to Team Vitality is unconfirmed as of yet but sources say it’s going to happen.
It comes in the wake of Nam “LirA” Tae-yoo’s surprise switch in eSports teams. LirA was in a contract to play with Team Vitality but later went back on it as he felt he was not a good fit. This came because of a combination of the transplant to Europe and his role within the team. Team Vitality have been hunting through eSports teams for a new Jungler because of this.
GMB has been playing as a Jungler in the off season and seems set to take on the new role within the eSports teams’ roster. He has auditioned for other high profile eSports teams, though they did not ultimately select him. GMB auditioned for the Korean eSports team Misfits, but they selected Lee “KaKAO” Byung-kwon instead. KaKAO has more experience in the Jungler role, which may have been the reason behind the selection.
The decision to switch eSports team will no doubt have been a difficult one but with NRG Esports relegated from the North American League Championship Series it’s a no brainer. To play with Team Vitality instead is a much stronger move for GMB and one that just makes sense.
Team Vitality have declined to comment on the rumour as of yet but with the new season approaching we’ll find out soon enough. If it is true, it will be interesting to see how GMB fits into the team and integrates into the new role. Any Jungler will tell you it’s not exactly the easiest role to break into so it’s one to watch.
