The Professional eSports Association Launches in 2017

Just when we thought eSports couldn’t get any hotter – we find out that the Professional eSports Association will begin operating officially from January 2017, and its title will be none other than Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. There are 7 big North America teams behind this association which are: Cloud 9, Team Liquid, Immortals, compLexity Gaming, Team Solomid, NRG eSports and Counter Logic Gaming.

Start of Something New

The commissioner of the Professional eSports Association (PEA) is Jason Katz, and he mentioned that this will be something brand new in eSports and that the reason the teams have got together is to establish a better environment that is more stable for players. They are already taking steps to work on some of the problems that the professional eSports players have raised regarding spots available in certain tournaments. There will now be what is known as a “Grievance Committee” who will give the players a voice in how the PEA operated. This means they can now have their say on what they feel could be improved upon within the online sport.

The first season of the CS:GO league has already been announced. It will consist of 10 whole weeks of live matches, where there will be 2 matches each week and a prize pool of $500,000 in total up for grabs. There will also be a 50/50 revenue split between both players and organizations in a big to improve relations between the 2.
